What is it with people who can't maintain a consistent speed on the highway? My commute takes me up a couple of hills, and nearly every day, I'm behind some jackass who was going 80 mph on the flats but who's now going, like, 60 up one of these hills. What kind of a car do I drive? A 1998 VW New Beetle equipped with a whopping 2-liter, 4-cylinder engine--and one with 151,000 miles on it. The kinds of cars I'm often behind when this happens? Ford F-250 pickups outfitted with V-8s. Lexus E 300s. Cars with much biggers engines than mine. Cars that could blow me off the road if they wanted to. But maybe they just want to drive 60, right? Well, no--because on the flats, before the hill and again after it, they're going 80.
So, what gives? GRAVITY. Yes, it seems that the drivers of these cars don't seem to realize that if they've been going along on a flat road with their foot applying X pressure on the accelorator, they have to apply more pressure on the accelorator when going uphill to maintain the same speed.
I remember having this discussion, and you're just as right today as you were then ... I'm a bit more forgiving of the trucks, but the Lexus, etc ... no excuse. Drive your car or get off the road, and I don't even drive my beloved Aspire anymore.

I live in much the same world, if you replace 60 with 40. Why can't anyone drive?
